Development
Bottle Rock received approval from the Lake County Board of Supervisors on March 15, 2011 for the Bottle Rock Power Steam Expansion Project. The Expansion Project is designed to increase the renewable energy generated by the Bottle Rock facility which will bring benefits to the local community and help California meet its renewable energy goals. Bottle Rock is proud to contribute to both the local economy and to help the state of California meet its goal of securing 33 percent of the state’s energy from renewable resources by 2020.
Basics & Benefits of the Expansion Project
Production will increase from 15 to 55 Megawatts, creating enough energy for 20,000 homes and avoiding 1.26MM tons of CO2/yr at a relatively low cost of energy ($3,000-$4,000 per kW)
The project will require the construction of two new well pads which can accommodate up to a total of 22 new geothermal steam production wells
The project will create and/or retain 102 direct and 323 indirect full-time employment (“FTE”) jobs.
Economic benefits include contributions to the local economic base from sales taxes, materials purchased locally, additional local and state revenue from increased property tax, and royalty revenue for Lake County
